Outspoken Kirinyaga Women Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici, has come out to reveal that she partly sponsored Deputy President William Ruto’s campaign trail that transversed the country to popularise the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Standard, Ngirici expressed her disappointment now that her investments in the party have gone to waste after claims that UDA will support Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru as she seeks to retain her seat.
Ngirici went ahead and explained how he had sacrificed her resources like Ngirici and Sons Rescue Team Centre to become UDA offices. She also stated that her love for UDA made her brand cars belonging to the facilities with UDA colors.

“I don’t even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch, but I’m young in politics and still learning,” Ngirici stated.
Ngirici who is known to be a close ally of DP Ruto stated that she is no longer bitter with Uhuru Kenyatta and commended the relationship between the President and the former premier Raila Odinga.
She opined that she had learned a lesson the hard way after Waiguru decamped from Jubilee Party and joined the hustler fraternity. She says that her relationship with the DP has hit a snag and now plans to exit the party.
“I’m, however, confident that my supporters will follow me, regardless of the pedestal I will be standing on.
“Politics is akin to the game of chess; you must study it well as your next decision would determine whether you win or lose. I have now retreated to carefully study my options before I make my next political move,” she added.
Ngirici attributed the popularity of UDA in the Mount Kenya region to her effort. She affirmed that she also campaigned for DP Ruto in the region and wooed the electors to vote for him to enable him to clinch the Presidential seat come 2022.
“I popularised UDA Party in Kirinyaga County. I convinced my people that UDA was the political outfit to join and that Ruto was the man best-suited to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. I also made them see the gaps in BBI, which was being championed by the President’s team,” she said.
“During that time, Waiguru was on the other side opposing Ruto, claiming that the DP had rented members of the Kikuyu community. She was also at the forefront popularising BBI across Kenya,” said Ngirici.
“When her BBI mission failed, she crossed over to UDA.”
