Nigeria has on Monday announced its first death caused by the deadly coronavirus.
Confirming the news was NCDC who said the victim was a 67-year old man who had traveled from the UK for treatment.
He is said to have had other complications including diabetes, myeloma and was also undergoing chemotherapy.
“The 1st COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK

He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy.”
Nigerians warned about fake news
The news comes at a time when NCDC is warning citizens against the spread of fake news to cause panic.
In a tweet, they rubbished rumors making round that there are two cases of coronavirus at university hostel in Kano.
The publisher of the post is said to have edited it and claimed to have been posted by BBC News personnel.
