Nigeria on high alert as first case of coronavirus is reported


Nigeria has become the first country in Sub-Saharan to report coronavirus infection.

The coronavirus infection was diagnosed when an Italian who landed from Milan made his way into Lagos on Tuesday 25th February.

He is currently being isolated and receiving treatment as the Nigerian authorities saying he had no serious symptoms.

Efforts by the government to identify each and every person who came into contact with the patient are in progress.

The Ministry of Health in Nigerian confirmed to have prepared themselves well if such a case is reported.

Currently, over 80,000 people are feared to have contracted the virus with the cases coming from different countries across the continent.

In China, infection rates are in the fall as the government has stepped the fight to control its spread.

Over the weekend three Seria matches were postponed due to the virus attack in Italy.

Several provinces were placed under lockdown as the government took control of the virus.

Strict measures are expected to be enforced to ensure the safety of citizens in Italy.
