United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for the Kiambaa by-election Njuguna Wanjiku has clinched the hotly contested seat as confirmed by IEBC.
Njuguna was in the race against Kariri Njama of Jubilee Party as teams from both sides battled for supremacy as to who is better in the grassroots than the other. At the end of the tally, Njuguna led by 21,773 against 21,263 of Kariri.
The by-elections were halted after allegations of rigging were brought up by the Jubilee Party candidate who stormed one of the polling stations demanding a recount.

After some time counting resumed and IEBC confirmed Juguna Wanjiku as the ultimate winner.
Political analysts termed the by-election as a litmus test for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his popularity in Mount Kenya region ahead of the upcoming general elections. It was also a contest at his very backyard of Kiambu.
Several leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto celebrated the victory as they congratulated their candidate after a vigorous campaign surrounded by violence from supporters from both sides.
