On Monday ODM party elected former cabinet secretary Ochillo Ayacko through an electoral college vote.

Inspired by UK electoral system of electoral collage, Migori elected MCA’s, women Representatives, Members of Parliament, Deputy Governors and Governors form a collage to elect a candidate.
Last week former cabinet minister Ochillo Ayacko confirmed withdrawing his petition challenging Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s victory in the August election.
Confirming through his lawyers, Mr. Ayacko wrote to Obado’s lawyers informing withdrawing his appeal that was at the Court of Appeal.
“I have decided to withdraw the petition. My lawyers have already sent a letter to Mr Obado’s lawyers communicating my intention. The same letter has been copied to the Court of Appeal,” said Mr Ochillo.
Mr Ayacko move was due to the respect for opposition leader Raila Odinga who is said to have intervened during the legal battle.
“I decided to do this in respect to right honourable Raila Odinga, who had appealed to us to bury our hatchet,” Mr Ochillo said.
