ODM’s Ochillo Ayacko wins Migori Senatorial seat

ODM candidate Ochillo Ayacko has won the Migori senatorial seat after garnering 85,234 votes.

The Migori seat fell vacant after Hon. Benard Oluoch passed away following a battle with throat cancer.

Other candidates in the by-election included Mr. Solomon Hodo,Mr. Peter Jabando, mr. Dickson Ogolla and Mr. Samuel Otieno.

Mr. Ochillo Ayacko was followed closely by Eddy Oketch who garnered a total of 60,555 votes. Mr. Oketch vied under Federal party of Kenya.

Mr. Ochillo Ayacko is known to be a rival to the detained Governor Okoth Obado. Even though the two leaders are from on political party, they have on several times been eyeing for the gubernatorial seat.

Violence has been seen in the last election with Governor Obado accusing Mr. Ayacko for provocking him.

Their differences were however resolved by party leader Raila Odinga who later endorsed Mr. Ochillo Ayacko for the Senatorial seat after it fell vacant.

In recent turn of events, Hon. Raila Odinga broke his silence over the detention of Governor Okoth Obado calling on him to prove his innocence in the alleged murder of Rongo university student Sharon Atieno.
