Deputy President William Ruto has on Sunday defended his office over alleged Ksh 39 billion fake tender.
In a tweet, DP Ruto clarified that his office does not in any way procure goods on behalf of any ministry or department.
He then goes on to pose questions as to which other government office did the scammers visit, was the the DOD visited and who facilitated?

“ODP does NOT procure for any ministry/department. Question:other than 23min in Annex, for months, which government offices involved in the ‘tender’ did the scammers visit? Did they access DOD? Who facilitated? Who did they meet?”
The remarks by the DP follows a previous tweet which he distanced himself from the woes engulfing former CS Rashid Echesa.
He termed the allegations as a smear campaign planned by his political rivals due to his close ties with the former CS.
Rashid Echesa was arrested in a fake 39 billion military equipment trade where he had allegedly pocketed Ksh 11.5 million as advance payment.
Reports indicate that during their meetings with the investors, the former CS held some of them inside the office of the DP and even had CS Amina Mohammed’s signature on the documents.
He is currently in custody as detectives continue with their investigations into the fake tender.
