A 35-year-old man in Philadelphia identified as Fiston Ngoy has been put behind bars after he sexually assaulted a woman passenger in a moving train. The other passengers witnessed the action without doing anything.
The man who was caught on a CCTV camera was arrested after a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) employee made an emergency call to the authorities.
A statement from Upper Darby Township Police Department Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt indicated that the man sat close to the woman for a chat but their conversation gradually made the man aggressive who ended up stripping her clothes and raping her.

“He sat next to her for a conversation. …” Bernhardt said. “And then he just completely overpowered the woman and forcibly raped her.”
Addressing the passengers, Bernhardt was disappointed as no one took steps to rescue the woman in the ordeal. He advised that one should alert the train conductor and even reach to 911 for help during an emergency.
“I don’t know where we are in society that people can’t help other people out in a time of need,” he said. “If you see something horrendous like this horrible incident, you have to do something, you have to intervene. I think that it starts here when we have to definitely go back to some decency, where we help each other out and we look out for each other.”
The victim was rushed to a nearby health facility where doctors are treating the injuries that came after the assault. Police in upper Darby are currently reviewing a surveillance footage to get the closest witnesses who can give details of what transpired.
