Acting Director-General in the Ministry of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth has been appointed the Chairperson of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive board.
The good news was confirmed by Dr. Harsh Vardhan who is the Minister in charge of the Ministry during the board’s 149th meeting.

Last year in May, Dr. Patrick Amoth was appointed WHO vice-President a position that he promised to work towards to represent Kenya fully.
Amoth has a Master of Medicine from the University of Nairobi in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Between the year 1993 and 1997, he taught doctors and nurses in Kisumu at the county’s Provincial Hospital.
Between the years 1997 and 2001, he moved to Nairobi where he headed the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
In 2001 he moved to Kiambu where he worked as the District Medical Service Officer to the year 2011.
Other stations that Dr. Patrick Omoth has worked include Machakos Level 5 hospital and Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital in Nairobi.
