Paul Makonda, Tanzanian commissioner banned from U.S

The U.S government has banned Mr. Paul Makonda, a top Tanzanian official from entering the country over gross violation of human rights.

Mr. Paul Makonda has been on the front line against gay people in Tanzania.

Also banned alongside the leader is his immediate family over the volation of human rights.

“Today we designated Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Christian Makonda as ineligible to enter the U.S. for his involvement in gross violations of human rights.

We are deeply concerned over deteriorating respect for human rights and rule of law in Tanzania” Said U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Th ban comes at a time when several people including the media and media personnel have been against the regime of president John Pombe Magufuli.

They have been accusing the president and his government for silencing them especially on matters leadership.

Several people and media houses have felt the wrath and even prosecuted for speaking against the government.
