Agriculture CS Peter Munya has ordered the immediate shut down of Donkey slaughterhouses following illegal trade of the animal’s product.
The order follows a study that put Kenya at the apex of the sale of donkey skin to China.
Those into the skin of the donkey claim that it helps in aging and libido in people.

An estimated 1,000 donkeys are slaughter on a daily basis in Kenya making it the leading country in the business.
Addressing the press, CS Peter Munya said the move is to end brutality exercised on the animals.
He continued by saying his mission is to ensure that the Donkey’s purpose is maintained as it should be.
The increased demand in skin saw many farmers complaining of theft of their animals.
Fear still lingers that the trade may still continue despite the ban.
