A Petition asking the government to stop all direct flights from China from entering the country is gaining momentum.

The petition seeks to enlighten the government on the dangers the country risks by allowing many Chinese nationals into the country.

Two days ago China Southern Airlines carrying 239 passengers was allowed into the country sparking criticism on the way the government is handling the issue.

Thousands of Kenyans have since signed the petition as danger looms in the country.

Capital FM was the first one to quote the government who said banning the flights will be discriminatory.

“Coronavirus is a real danger to everyone around the world. The contingency plans we have experienced from the affected areas around the world to protect, prevent & contain the virus from spreading in those areas are nonexistent in Kenya.

The best we can do is try all we can to prevent the disease from getting into the country especially from its source- China.

The authorities must immediately stop all direct flights going to & coming from China.

The simple reason is we’re simply not ready to fight the scourge. Not economically & certainly not technologically.

It will spread like wildfires and millions will be affected. Kindly join me in signing this petition urging the Government of Kenya to immediately stop all flight to & from China until & unless the Corona (Covid19) Virus is contained and controlled. ” Said, Ahmed Papa
