President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Sunday commissioned two roads worth Ksh 1.6 billion in Siaya County.
The Kodiaga-Wagai-Onyinyore/Akala, and Nyangweso-Muhanda Roads are expected to open up the county to market its sugarcane and fish products in Kisumu and beyond.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially commissioned the Kodiaga-Wagai-Onyinyore/Akala, and Nyangweso-Muhanda Roads in Siaya County. The Shs1.6bn road network covers a total distance of 38kms, and opens up the fish and sugarcane rich region to markets in Kisumu and beyond.” Said State House.

The news comes hours after he arrived at the lakeside city where he was received by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at the Kisumu International Airport.
In his three day visit, he will also open a number of government projects in addition to welcoming Burundi President His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye who will be in the country for a two-day state visit.
His Burundi counterpart will also be present at the 58th Madaraka day celebrations to be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu County. Burundi First Lady will hold talks with her counterpart Margaret Kenyatta.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in Kisumu for a three-day working tour of Nyanza Region during which he will visit several Government projects.
Also on the President’s diary is a two-day State Visit by his Burundi counterpart His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, and the 58th Madaraka Day Celebrations at the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu County.” Said State House.
