Jamhuri day celebration were filled with laugh and colors as President Uhuru dressed in a military regalia and saluted fellow leaders.
On Wednesday morning President Uhuru Kenyatta ditched his usual suits and ties for a military regalia with has previously been worn by former President Daniel Moi.
During the celebrations the president first inspected the military parade as protocol before he changed tactics when he started greeting other leaders who attended the ceremony.
One by one was saluted by the president in what was change of tact. He even saluted his wife was looked surprised as she smiled back.
Upon approaching opposition leader Raila Odinga, President Uhuru Kenyatta paused before saluting him sending everyone into laughter.
Those in attendance during the Jamhuri celebrations were Vice President William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Chief Justice Maraga, ODM leader Raila Odinga, leader of majority Eden Duale, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka among others.
