President Uhuru visits manufacturers of J&J vaccine in SA

President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Wednesday visited manufacturers and distributors of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in South Africa.

The visit to Aspen Pharmacare by the Head of state comes at a time when the country prepares to commence local production of the vaccine as well as other vaccines.

“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday visited Aspen Pharmacare, the South African-based subsidiary of Aspen, the multinational pharmaceutical company that manufactures and distributes the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine.

The President’s visit to the pharmaceutical company comes in the wake of Kenya’s preparations to start local production of Covid-19 and other vaccines.” Said State House.

It was during the visit that South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa offered to supply Kenya with 100,000 doses of the vaccine to boost the country’s vaccination plans.

“It also follows an offer by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to donate 100,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine to Kenya boost the country’s vaccination campaign.” Said State House
