Priest murdered: suspects reveal being paid Ksh 1,500

(News Moto) – The priest murdered in Embu has seen two suspects reveal how they committed the crime for Ksh 1,500.

Appearing before Milimani Law Court, Kavinya Mwangangi who is a cook revealed how they slashed the priest using a panga together with the other suspect Solomon Mutava.

Narrating the ordeal Mwangangi said they boarded a vehicle that carried the priest’s body before tying him down with ropes in his hands and feet.

They then slaughtered him with a panga before wrapping him up with nylon leaving Michael Maingi the priest for dead.

Mwangangi further revealed hearing his colleague Mutava asking the priest for his bank details and M-Pesa which he declared to having Ksh 1,500 in his phone.

The two will be detained as police complete their investigation into the priest murdered in Mbeere Embu County.

They will also undergo a mental examination before they stand trial for the murder of Michael Maingi.

Also detained is a nursery school teacher by the name of Michael Mutunga who is to assist the police recover valuables stolen from the Catholic priest.

More suspects are expected to be arrested through the help of Mwangangi who is reported to have volunteered to share more information.

The Catholic priest was reported missing on 5th October but his body was found eleven days later in Embu in a shallow grave.
