Prisoner serving life sentence at Embu GK prison hangs self

A prisoner serving life sentence at Embu GK prison has hanged himself to death under unclear circumstances.

The inmate who had been serving life at Meru Prison since 2013 was recently transferred to Embu GK Prison in 2016.

Silas Kirimi was found guilty by a Meru court for robbery with violence before the presiding judge announced the sentence.

Source speaking to Citizen TV revealed that he was under some medication that could have led him to get angry easily days before his death.

The source further reveals that Silas had been engaged in a bitter confrontation with a fellow inmate, something that could have led him to taking his own life.

Investigations have been launched as his body was moved to EMbu Level Five Hospital Mortuary.

Embu teenage girl disciplined by brother commits suicide

A 14-year old girl in Embu County committed suicide on Christmas Day following an argument with her elder brother.

The young girl is said to have been disciplined by his older brother following his tendancy to go out at night and engage in relationships.

Speaking at the scene, his elder brother said he was trying to correct her behavior as she had not changed even after she was talked to by her mother.

Parents have since been advised to look into better ways to deal with their teenage children when on the wrong.
