Protest in Thika over a 10-acre piece of land

Residents of Landless Estate have staged a protest over an alleged piece of land they say has been grabbed.

The said piece of land is said to have initially been marked as public but they accuse a former councilor of grabbing it.

During their protest, they have threatened to pull down the water tank that serves them water in the area.

Led by area MCA Raphael Chege and the PA to Thika Town MP, the group of protesters wore red ribbons to signify danger and a no-go zone to any intruder.

The contentious 10-acre piece of land is said to have been allocated to construct a market, social hall and a police station.

The land grabbers are said to have gone ahead to acquire fake title deeds.
