Pwani University bus involved in an accident along Nakuru-Naivasha road

Several people are feared dead after a bus from Pwani University was involved in a grisly accident in Koyale area in Naivasha.

The accident is also reported to have involved a 14-seater matatu with the number of people inside each vehicle remaining unknown.

Images making rounds on social media revealed some bodies lying beside the roadside as the wreckage of the bus remained tilted in a ditch.

As of the time of publishing, a total of 14 people were confirmed dead most of whom include the young boys and girls who had traveled using the bus.

A video has also emerged of the bus overspeeding and in full headlights before passing through two vehicles near the scene of the incident. It then veered off the road and into the drainage.

Speaking at the scene were residents who called on the government to act swiftly and handle the drainage systems along the road as they revealed the many numbers of accidents witnessed at the same spot.

President William Ruto joined Kenyans to mourn the victims of the accident terming them young citizens with a promising future.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the families & friends of those who lost loved ones in the Naivasha accident involving a Pwani University bus. It’s heartbreaking that some of the fatalities were young citizens with a promising future. We pray for the speedy recovery of the survivors.” said President Ruto
