Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has on Friday shamed the National Cerial and Produce Board (NCPB) for ignoring struggling farmers in the country.
The former PM noted how the farmers work hard to till their land and doing everything to ensure they get the deserved produce only to be turned away by NCPB over lack of storage facilities.
“Farmers toil to till the land, plant, weed, and harvest: coupled with prayer for the rains to start and stop at the right time. When the produce is taken to NCPB they’re informed that the board cannot purchase it because its stores are full of “imported” maize. A total shame!” Said Raila.

The statement comes barely a day after the ODM Party leader called on the government to immediately lower the price of fuel so as to cushion wanainchi.
According to Raila, Kenyans are currently suffering to put the food on the table in addition to the effects of the pandemic.
“Kenyans who have been struggling to put food on the table since the onset of the pandemic now stand to have their collective plight worsened by the increased fuel prices. The prices should be lowered immediately to cushion the ordinary Wanainchi.” Said Raila.
