Real Madrid suffer first defeat under Zinedine Zidane

Real Madrid suffered their first defeat under the returned coach Zinedine Zidane losing 2-1 against Valencia.

Valencia opened scoring in the first half through Goncalo Guedes after exchanging passes with team mate Carlos Soler before smashing home.

Real Madrid failed to create many chances in the first half with the best try coming from Toni Kross long range effort which was saved.

In the second half Valencia doubled their lead in the 83rd minute when Ezequiel Garay thumped in a header.

French striker Karem Benzema pulled one for Real Madrid in the 93rd minute but it was too late to make a comeback.

Real Madrid loss leaves them at third position, 13 points behind leaders Barcelona and five points behind second placed side Athletico Madrid.
