Ruto breaks his silence over the arrest of MP Rigathi Gachagua


Deputy President William Ruto has broken his silence following the arrest of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua on Friday morning.

In a short message, the Deputy President noted that they were away the charges were coming and that the prosecution is due to their friendship but it will come to an end.

“My bro Gachagua, I know you are strong because we knew this politically instigated trumped up charges were coming. This persecution on account of our friendship & political beliefs will come to an end. They have connections, networks, pedigree& godfathers BUT we have GOD our Father.” Said DP William Ruto.

The Friday morning incident saw detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation ambush the home of the Legislator demanding to take him in for questioning.

“As predicted two dozens of DCI officers raided my Nyeri home and arrested me to face trumped up charges of money laundering. I am being driven to Nairobi at reckless speed to spend the weekend in the cells.

I am happy it is finally over. It has been two years of hell; being arrested and released, writing countless statements, being prosecuted in the media, intimidation and harassment to me and family. I am happy I now have a chance to be vindicated in a court of law as our courts are independent.” Said MP Gachagua

He was quickly moved from Nyeri to Nairobi where he is expected to spend the weekend pending investigation into his wealth which is reported to be questionable for some years now.

Several leader allied to Deputy President William Ruto quickly joined their friend as they requested his release pending investigation and prosecution.

Gachagua is reported to be investigation over the transfer of Ksh billion through 49 companies associated with him. He is also under investigation for benefiting during the reign of his brother and former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
