Deputy President William Ruto has picked Mathira legislator Rigathi Gachagua as running mate in the coming general elections.
The news brings to an end speculations and much anticipated news as to who will be the running mate in Kenya Kwanza coalition.
On Thursday, Kenyans were promised to know the Deputy President’s choice only for the announcement to be pushed to Saturday and finally on Sunday.

Kenya Kwanza coalition had three candidates to pick from and that was ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Senator Kithure Kindiki and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachgua. In regard to polls conducted, Mudavadi led the team in terms of the favourite candidate.
Despite ongoing discussions, reports confirmed that there was a standoff on Saturday at DP William Ruto’s Karen office when both Gachagua and Kindiki walked off following an alleged standoff.
The news was also termed as an ongoing brain game between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio One Kenya coalition as to who name there running mate first.
Speaking on Sunday after the news, DP William Ruto congratulated Gachagua as he gave him his first assignment which entails developing economic strategies that will drive Kenya forward if they clinch the seat.
Also present during the unveiling of Hon. Rigathi Gachagua was ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi who hit out at their opponents and the current economic challenges in the country following a further Ksh 5.5 hike in fuel prices.
All other candidates in the race and party members congratulated Gachagua as celebrations rocked in Mathira and other strong hold areas of Kenya Kwanza coalition.
