A bus from Mpopong Boarding Primary School was today morning involved in an accident along the Bomet-Sotik highway.
The morning accident saw 14 pupils and their teachers escape death narrowly after the accident.
The students were traveling for a tour of tea factories. The injured students were rushed to Tenwek Mission Hospital by good Samaritans who were at the scene of the accident.
Those who survived escaped with wounds from the broken glasses from the windows of the bus. It is said that one teacher broke his hip and lost several teeth and he will have to spend more time in the hospital to undergo treatment.
The driver is however accused to falling asleep when the bus approached Tarakwa area losing controlling before hitting a ditch.
In his defense the driver of the bus said that he was trying to avoid hitting a car before the bus suddenly stopped.
Bomet County Police Commandant Naomi Ichami said that investigations in regard to the accident have already started.
