Several people onboard are feared dead after a matatu they were in rolled several times at Maanzoni area, Machakos County.
Even though the cause of the accident remains unknown, the 6pm incident involved a matatu belonging to Macos SACCO and was heading to Nairobi from Machakos at the time of the accident.
Among those confirmed dead was Machakos assistant county commissioner whose body was moved to Montenzuma Funeral home. Those who sustained injuries were rushed to to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for treatment.

The news comes at a time when Kenyans are rushing back home to vote come Tuesday 9th August 2022. Even though there is a shortage of vehicles, the fare has hiked making it difficult for many people to travel on time.
Kenyans have been urged to exercise caution and maintain peace before, during and after the elections. Security personnel have also been deployed to ensure peace prevails in various poling stations.
