The visitors took possession from the word go but failed to convert a goal handing McGoldrick his first Premier League goal which was doubled by McBurnie 30 minutes later.

In the 77th minute the 32-year-old forward completed the third for the club and second for the night.

Chelsea now sit in position three with 60 points a point ahead of Leicester and two ahead of Manchester United who both have a game in hand.

If both clubs win their respective fixtures, they will drag down the Blues to fifth position with only one game left to the end of the season.

For the first time in history Frank Lampard’s side failed to convert or record a win despite having a 76% possesion in a Premier League match.

The win has pushed Sheffield to position six four points below Manchester United and a perfect opportunity to qualify for a European qualification come next season.
