Ten officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) are reported dead on the Somalia-Kenya border.
The officers who were patrolling along Damajale Harchale road are reported to have run over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
They lost their lives on the spot and the vehicle they were traveling in was severely damaged in the process.
Investigation has already begun as a rescue team has been deployed along the Somalia-Kenya border.
Confirming the incident was the Inspector General of National Police Service Hillary Mutyambai who said more information will be released.
“The National Police Service regrets to inform the public that today the 12” Oct 2019 at around 1730 hours, officers of the National Police Service (NPS) were on patrol along Damajale Harehare road near the Kenya Somali border when the motor vehicle they were travelling on came along an improvise explosive device (IED).

Reinforcement has been sent to the area to pursue the attackers and investigations launched.” Said, Mutyambai
