At least four people are feared dead as hundred sustained injuries when a stand collapsed during a bullfight event in Colombia.
The Sunday incident at Tolima state at the western city of El Espinal happened as thousands turned up to the annual traditional event dubbed corraleja where participants enter the ring and challenge a bull inside the stadium.
Confirming the incident was Tolima Governor José Ricardo Orozco who said that nearby hospitals have been informed on the same. He continued by confirming that the dead include two women, a minor and one man.
After the incident, Tolima health secretary Martha Palacios confirmed that a total of 322 people had turned up to different hospitals for treatment with the minor being an 18-month-old baby.
It is not the first time the incident has happened as President Gustavo Petro called on an immediate ban on the event as he called on for an investigation.
“We lament the terrible tragedy registered in El Espinal, Tolima, during the festivals of San Pedro and San Juan, with the collapse of the stands during a corraleja. We will call for an investigation.” Said President Gustavo Petro.
