Two schools in Mombasa namely Star of the Sea and Tononoka High Schools have been closed following cases of COVID-19.
It is reported that about four teachers at Star of the Sea high school contracted the virus forcing the management to suspend education at the facility until when the situation is cleared.

Same is the case at Tononoka high school where the school principal is reported to have tested positive for the virus prompting immediate closure to contain the situation.
Several new cases of the virus are reported at the city with many patients receiving treatment at various hospitals within the county.
Parents are now a worried lot attributing the new cases to teachers and students making their way in after making several trips when education had been suspend across the country.
The news also comes at a time when the country confirmed 16 new deaths caused by the virus as confirmed by the Ministry of Health. This now brings to 858 the number of deaths.
A total of 497 new cases of the disease were also confirmed with the number of recoveries going up by 238.
