State extends use of old generation passports to November 2022

The government through the Immigration of Kenya has extended the phasing out of old generation passports to November 2022.

Initially, the government had set 31st December 2021 as the deadline but a meeting held in Arusha, Tanzania extended the use of old generation to Novemeber2022.

“The government had previously set a deadline of 31st December 2021 for phasing out old generation passport. However, the 41st ordinary meeting of EAC Council of Minister’s held in Arusha from 22nd to 29th November 2021, extended the phasing out period of all EAC member passport to November 2022.

Since Kenya is a member state is bound by the Council’s decision, we will abide by the directive for now.” Said Immigration.

Its is due to the above the Directorate of Immigration Services wishes to inform the general public to migrate fully to the new East Africa Community biometric e-passport by 30th November 2022.

“The Directorate of Immigration services wishes to inform the general public that Kenya is bound to migrate fully to the new East Africa Community biometric e-passport by 30th November 2022.” Said Immigration Kenya
