DP Ruto and Senator Gideon met on Saturday in Kimoriot in Muchongoi Baringo South during the burial of Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim who passed away following a battle with cancer.
The two leaders shook hands during the burial before former allies of the Senator called him out demanding him to drop his ambition for 2022 presidential bid and allow his father be visited by DP Ruto.
Mr Ruto stayed clear of politics but took time to mourn the late MP remembering her as a leader who fought to ensure peace prevails in Baringo.He praised the late MP for her efforts for the constituency even during times she was battling colon cancer.
In his speech the deputy said “She was truly blessed, she was a great peacemaker in the history of Baringo, we value her and respect her. She was a committed and strong lady who despite her condition fought hard,”
The DP also told the mourners of how she was an extraordinary woman who took leadership when Baringo was experiencing insecurity.He also remembered how the late MP employed police reservists to boost security.
“She came to me and in respect to her I assure the people of Baringo the road to Marigat through Karandi, Muchongoi will be complete in the next one and half years,” he said.
When Gideon Moi took stage he addressed leaders who attacked him saying they should respect his father.
“I am really begging you to stop involving my father in this. I do not have a problem with anyone who wants to say anything about me but I am requesting you to keep my father out of this,”Gideon Moi said.
The Senator applauded Baringo residents for standing with her.He also noted how the MP won her second term despite being hospitalized.
Also present at the burial was senator majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen,Kapsabet MP Oscar Sudi and Kuresoi North MP Mr Cheboi.
