Sugar prices go up by Ksh 10

In the last two days sugar prices have gone up by Ksh 10 and Ksh 20 per kilo in the Western part of Kenya.

Consumers of the precious commodity were caught by surprise sparking a complain.

The increase of sugar is attributed to the increased demand witnessed across the country.

Consumers generally have been avoiding purchasing sugar associated with contamination and improper importation.

Speaking to the Nation,Jamil Shah a trader in Migori said that “There is no problem if we make some coins from the crisis. We have other brands in the stores but nobody is buying them,”

Current;y a 50 kg bag of sugar has gone up from Ksh 4,300 to Ksh 5,500.
