Tanzania fuel tanker explosion kills 57, 65 injured

57 people are feared dead in Tanzania following a fuel tanker explosion that has also seen 65 other people sustaining injuries.

The Tanzania fuel tanker explosion is said to have occurred in Morogoro when a tanker ferrying fuel overturned.

People rushed to the scene of the accident to recover some fuel when an explosion occurred killing even those near the scene.

The numbers are expected to rise as many others have been rushed to hospitals to received treatment.

Morogoro area is well known for ferrying fuel and other commodities that come from the country’s port.

Such cases of fuel recovery are rampant in many areas around Africa even after being warned to stay away from such dangerous scenes.

Last year a fuel tanker overturned in Mombasa area of Kibarani causing a huge traffic snarl-up in the mainland.

Firefighters acted swiftly closing off the scene of the accident as they poured foam on the tanker. No explosion was reported
