Tanzania launch new passport

On Wednesday Tanzania government launched a new electronic passport.

The new passport will enhance national security,improve revenue and control illegal immigrants coming and going through Tanzania borders.

Speaking President Magufuli said that the immigration officers should ensure that good service are delivered as well as warn those who will fail in their duties,they will face disciplinary actions.

The electronic passport will be available at a cost of Tsh 150,000(Ksh 6,700) and will be valid for 10 years.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Republic of Ireland at a cost of $57.82 million.US based company HID was also part of the program to provide the service.
