Tanzania’s CHADEMA party set to elect flag bearer

Tanzania opposition party Chadema is planning to elect a flag bearer who will battle it out with President John Pombe Magufuli in the coming election.

The party will retreat for a three day meeting from August 2nd to August 4th at the capital Dar es Salaam.

The news come days after their strongman Tindu Lissu jetted back into the country from Belgium where he was receiving after surviving 16 gun shots back in 2017.

His supporters were initially warned by the police against gathering at the Julius Nyerere International Airport terming it illegal.

They however made their way to the airport and welcomed him making a statement to his challengers.

“Tanzania’s main Opposition Party, CHADEMA is set to convene for three consecutive days starting from August 2 up to August 4 in Dar.

The main agenda of the party’s meetings is to elect the party’s flag bearer who will face President Magufuli in this year’s election.” Said Tanzania Updates
