Tassia building: Two confirmed dead in Embakasi accident

At least two people are reported dead after a six-storey building collapsed in Nairobi, Tassia Estate.

The 8 am Tassia building incident is said to have occurred when several occupants were heading to their places of employment.

Those who survived reported to have not seen any signs of collapsing or cracks on the wall.

22 families are said to have been living in the building that started falling from the ground floor as the other floors followed suit.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene of the incident to rescue those injured as they dug through the blocks to rescue those trapped inside.

Hon. Kihalangwa who in charge of public works was among government officials who arrived at the scene of the accident.

Sniffer dogs were deployed to help the rescuers in their recovery mission.

The Landlord of the building had been called in to provide the number of tenants but was nowhere to be seen.

An estimate from the size, approximately 46 houses are said to have been affected by the incident.
