Telkom set to split Telkom Digital and money transfer T-Kash

Telkom Kenya has confirmed delays from Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) to get approval that will see them break away from mobile service T-Kash.

In May 2022, the mobile operator confirmed plans by the company to create two subsidiaries that is Telkom Digital and T-Kash.

The mobile money services launched in August 2020 will now look to rival Safaricom’s M-Pesa as they seek to launch loan services that will compete with Mshwari and KCB M-Pesa all under Safaricom.

Speaking to Business Daily, Telkom CEO Mugo Kibati noted that they have done everything from their end nut experiencing delays from Communication Authority of Kenya. CA is yet t respond to the claims.

““We have done most of it we are waiting for the regulator’s approval. Once the regulator approves it, it’s done. Everything is done,’’ Said Mugo to Business Daily

Even with the arrival of T-Kash, M-Pesa is still experience monopoly in the market as Kenyans are yet to accept any rivals in the market a move that has also sparked a huge debate in parliament.
