The former President Daniel Moi’s press secretary Lee Njiru has on Tuesday revealed that the retired president died at the age of 103 and not 95.
Revealing one of the close door secrets of the former head of state, Lee Njiru took pride in knowing Mzee Daniel Moi very well.
He went further to say how the late president had warned him from believing the information on his identity card saying it was misleading.
Lee Njiru was has worked with the former president for over 10 years said part of his work was to know his boss very well, inside out.
The revelations contradict that of his family who says that he has passed away at the age of 95 years.
Last year, family and close family friends joined Mzee Daniel Moi in celebrating his 95th birthday at his Kabarak home.
He has however been in and out of hospital since October at the Nairobi Hospital.
His personal doctor Dr. Silverstein did not reveal much into what he was ailing but reported how his health was improving.
Moi passed away on Tuesday morning at 5:20 am as revealed by his son and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
