The U.S has on Wednesday confirmed its decision to withdraw from observing Uganda’s upcoming election.
According to the US Ambassador to Uganda Natalie Brown, the decision follows a denial of more than 77% of their accredited observers.
She continued by noting that both internal and external observers ensure transparency and accountability.
“Sadly, I announce decision not to observe Uganda’s elections due to Uganda’s decision to deny more than 75% of our accreditation requests.A robust contingent of observers, including local entities, promotes transparency & accountability.” Said Natalie Brown.
Ugandans will be heading to the polls on Thursday 14th as tension grows over the recent arrests of opposition presidential candidates and control of media stations..
