Three arrested attempting to steal KPLC pole

On Wednesday three suspects were arrested in Kangai Village in Sagana while attempting to steal a Kenya Power pole.

The three whose names have not been disclosed were booked at Sagana police station and later arraigned in court to answer to the charges of attempted stealing.

“Three suspects were arrested at Kangai Village in Sagana while attempting to steal a KPLC pole on Wednesday. They were booked at Sagana Police Station and later arraigned in court to answer to the charges of attempted stealing C/Sec.275 as read with sec 268(1) of the penal code.” Said KPLC on Twitter.

In an attempt to reduce frequent theft, KPLC has intensified its security operations countrywide with the goal of reducing energy loss due to the theft.

Other causes of losses include illegal connections, meter tempering and vandalism of power distribution equipment.

“We have intensified our security operations countrywide with the overall goal of reducing energy losses caused by theft including illegal connections, meter tampering and vandalism of power distribution equipment.” Said KPLC.

On Tuesday police seized power equipment worth Ksh 20 million from a home in Membley Estate, Ruiru. One suspect was arrested. Kenya Power distanced themselves from the suspect who was said to be their staff.
