Three pupils feared dead as lightning strikes a school

Three pupils of Mkulima Primary School in Kuresoi North are feared dead when lightning struck their class on Thursday.

The 3 pm incident occurred just when the pupils rushing back to their classroom for shelter.

53 others sustained injuries and were rushed to different hospitals within Nakuru County.

Area leaders including the Chief responded to the incident calling on people to rush to the scene and help the pupils.

Some of those who survived are reported to be still in shock as doctors attend to them.

Ambulances and a team of doctors were called by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to attend to the victims.

Doctors attending to the victims confirmed that some were in a stable condition and did not sustain injuries.

Residents have called on the government to equip classes with lightning arresters to prevent the occurrence of such cases in the future.
