Three terror suspects who escaped Kamiti prison arrested

Detectives have arrested the three terror suspects who had escaped Kamiti Maximum prison in Kitui County.

The three were arrested following extensive operations by the police in the area after word went round that three people matching the description had been seen in the area.

Police involved local leaders in other neighboring parts of Garissa and Tana River to be on high alert and report any suspicious people in the area.

According to Nation, a locals in Kitui suspected the three to be those who escaped Kamiti Maximum Prison as they looked tired and thirsty as they opted to purchase items such as biscuits strictly by cash.

They would then enquire direction to Boni forest located in Lamu and the nearest route to Tana River or Garissa from where they were. One of the suspects was limping due to exhausion.

The arrest follows a promise by Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i who directed the police to closely monitor borders as the suspects would likely attempt to leave the country.

He however called for calm among Kenyans promising that security personnel are on high alert to ensure the country is safe.

CS Matiang’i inspected the prison following the escape leading to the arrest of seven wardens.
