Azimio’s Nairobi deputy Governor candidate Tim Wanyonyi has now shifted his focus to defend his Westlands seat.
The news came minutes after both parties in the coalition had agreed that Polycarp Igathe will be the party’s choice for Governor position and the ODM candidate will be his running mate.
Wanyonyi who was present at KICC admitted that he will support the party’s decision but he made it clear he will not be anyone’s running mate ahead of the elections.

Immediately after Hon. Raila Odinga stepped out, he confirmed Polycarp Igathe as choice for Governor and Philip Kaloki as his deputy. Raila further confirmed that Wanyonyi will defend his parliamentary seat.
“There were other contestants in this seat who have decided to step down. Tim Wanyonyi will now go back to defend his seat in Westlands Constituency,” Said Raila
The entrance of Igathe caused a rift in Nairobi politics as both members of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance had called for all candidates to come to a consensus.
The Luhya community was angered by plans to confirm Igathe forcing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga hold consultative discussion with them.
