Tony Onyango: KCB rugby player dies at home

Kenya Commercial Bank, KCB rugby player Tony Onyango has collapsed and died.

The father of one collapsed and died at his Ngong home before his body was transferred to Umash Funeral home.

Tony Onyango was involved in yesterday’s training ahead of the playoffs scheduled for Saturday.

Several clubs paid their tribute to the rugby legend as they sent their deepest condolences to the family and wife.

“A lion rests. Thank you for tirelessly giving yourself to this sport we all love Tony Onyango.

Our heartfelt condolences to your wife Maria and son Shane together with the whole family. May your Soul Rest in eternal peace.” Said Simba

“We join the sports fraternity in Kenya to mourn the demise of @kcbrugby player Tony Onyango.

We send our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and KRU. May his soul rest in peace.” Said Bandari.

In a statement, Kenya Rugby Union, KRU joined the rugby family union to mourn the death of their own.

The former Maseno student joined Kenya’s Simba in 2012 where he had been a regular player up to the year 2018.

Between 2012 and 2013 he played for Strathmore Leon before moving to Homeboyz in 2016.

He then joined KCB afterward and was part of the squad that made it to Kenya Cup finals.
