Trade interrupted in Narok town following demolitions

It was business unusual as trade came to a standstill when traders from Muthrwa and Uhuru market clashed in Narok town.

The clashes left one dead as others were injured including a police officer. Demonstrations were held at Uhuru market following demolition of structures by the Narok County Government.

Twelve suspects were arrested following the demonstrations.

The demolitions are said to have occurred on Sunday between 2 am and 4am left many traders counting losses.

Trade was almost disrupted in other markets including Muthurwa,ODM and Kandas as Uhur traders engaged them in clashes.

Things got out of hand when Uhuru market traders set ablaze Muthurwa market prompting the police to shot in the air to disperse them. Speaking after the incident, Deputy County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi promised to take legal action so as to resolve the issue.

Those who were arrested were taken to Narok Police Station and are to be arraigned in court to answer charges.
