Train derails in Kibarani causing huge traffic

Over 50,000 litres of petroleum has spilled at Kibarani,Mombasa County after a train derailed causing a huge traffic along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning near Kibarani bypass.

The train ferrying oil was using the old railway lines. Motorist and pedestrians were forced to use alternative routes to reach the CBD after police closed down the road.

Petrol being a highly flammable product, police took no chances but to close the road.
