Tunisia’s first freely elected President Beji Caid Essebsi has died at the age of 92-years-old while receiving treatment.
Mr. Essebsi who is the world’s longest sitting President was admitted on Wednesday even though the cause of his illness was not disclosed.
In 2014 Mr. Beji Caid Essebsi was elected to take up the Presidency following the Arab uprising in the region.

Last month he was admitted to a hospital in a serious condition and again the cause of the illness was not revealed.
Mr. Essebsi came into power following the ousting of the former Tunisia President Zine el-Abedine Ben Ali in 2011. President Zine had served for 23 years.
