Speaking after the arrest was Garissa County Commissioner Mr. Boaz Cherutich who urged residents to work closely with the police to surrender illegal firearms in the County.

“Garissa County Commisioner Mr. Boaz Cherutich asks Garissa residents to continue working with police to surrender or report anyone with illegal firearms.” Said Spokesperson GOK

Mr. Boaz also noted that those who will surrender the firearms will not be prosecuted but sent a warning shot to those hiding them that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.

“The earlier amnesty given by the government is still in force. Those who currently possess illegal fire arms, still have a chance to surrender without being prosecuted. However, for those who hide, we will look for you and we will find you,” Said Mr. Boaz

Also addressed were land disputes in the County with the County boss promising a resolution through a committee set up to handle all urgent matters.
