Two phone snatchers set on fire in Buruburu

An angry mob has today, October 28, burn two phone snatchers after they snatched a phone from a pedestrian at the busy Jogoo Road in Buruburu estate.

According to the witnesses who were at the crime scene, the two felons had clutched a phone from a man walking on the road before they were chased and set ablaze at the junction of Rabai and Mumia Roads.

The bodaboda operators cited that the two belonged to a syndicate that has been oppressing residents, an act that has tarnished their reputation.

Police officers could not rescue the two as they arrived when they had already turned to ashes. The irate residents have said that they will not spare such people in society since they had become a pain in their necks.

On the other hand, Nairobi police boss Augustine Nthumbi has reprimanded the act saying that Kenyans should learn to report such cases to the police who will then solve the problem based on the rule of law.

“As much as these cases have become too much and annoying, I wouldn’t advise anyone to engage in such violent activities. We have police officers, and they are the ones who should implement the law,” Nthumbi, told a local media house.

The cases of phone snatching have been on the rise in the country. In another recent case, two people were caught on camera snatching a mobile phone from a traffic police on a major highway in Nairobi.
