Two Wajir chiefs arrested for inflating census figures

Two chiefs from Wajir County have been arrested for inflating the figures of the ongoing National census.

Police officers in Wajir arrested the two after it was established that the administrators allowed enumerators to count the people twice.

Immediately after the pilot phase of the census had begun, members of a family are said to have been doubled or tripled in some cases.

The Two Wajir chiefs issue has caused a lot of discussions on social media begging the question on the authenticity of the results of the ongoing National exercise.

It is not the first time that the population of from the Northern part of the country has been doubted as in 2009 the figures were said to have been doubled.

The dispute was later tabled before the court only for the figures to be accepted.

In Kilifi County, Census enumerators downed their tools demanding for their payment.

Addressing the media, the enumerators declined to hear any word from Mtwapa chief demanding transport and airtime allowances.

At the moment the National activity is being interfered within the county with the same complains being raised by content supervisors.
